Year 1 Teaching Assistant – Full-time, temporary ongoing cover from January 2026

This full-time Year 1 Teaching Assistant role begins in January 2026 and offers ongoing temporary cover in a nurturing and inclusive school environment. Pupils are happy, safe, and enjoy their learning, supported by staff who have high expectations and provide a broad, engaging curriculum. Leaders are ambitious and ensure that pupils, including those with SEND, receive the support they need to thrive. The school fosters a strong sense of community, where pupils behave well and are proud of their achievements.

Duties as Year 1 Teaching Assistant:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and age-appropriate lessons
  • Work with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning objectives
  • Assist with classroom management and behaviour support
  • Prepare learning materials and resources
  • Support pupils with additional needs, ensuring inclusive learning
  • Contribute to the overall well-being and development of pupils

Ideal Year 1 Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children in a primary school setting, particularly in Key Stage 1
  • A relevant qualification in supporting teaching and learning is desirable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills as a Year 1 Teaching Assistant
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Adaptable, patient, and enthusiastic about supporting young learners
