Year 1 Teaching Assistant – Full-time, temporary ongoing cover from January 2026

This full-time Year 1 Teaching Assistant role begins in January 2026 and offers ongoing temporary cover in a nurturing and inclusive school environment. Pupils are happy, safe, and enjoy their learning, supported by staff who have high expectations and provide a broad, engaging curriculum. Leaders are ambitious and ensure that pupils, including those with SEND, receive the support they need to thrive. The school fosters a strong sense of community, where pupils behave well and are proud of their achievements.

Duties as Year 1 Teaching Assistant:

Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and age-appropriate lessons
Work with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning objectives
Assist with classroom management and behaviour support
Prepare learning materials and resources
Support pupils with additional needs, ensuring inclusive learning
Contribute to the overall well-being and development of pupils

Ideal Year 1 Teaching Assistant:

Experience working with children in a primary school setting, particularly in Key Stage 1
A relevant qualification in supporting teaching and learning is desirable
Strong communication and interpersonal skills as a Year 1 Teaching Assistant
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Adaptable, patient, and enthusiastic about supporting young learners
