Year 1 Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary role starting as soon as possible

We are seeking a dedicated Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join a school where pupils thrive in a positive and inclusive environment. Staff have high expectations and work collaboratively to ensure pupils make strong progress. Leaders are committed to providing a broad and balanced curriculum and prioritise safeguarding and pupil well-being. Pupils enjoy learning and benefit from clear routines and supportive relationships.

Duties as Year 1 Teaching Assistant:

Support Year 1 pupils in both classroom and one-to-one settings
Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities
Promote positive behaviour and implement strong behaviour management strategies
Help create a calm and structured learning environment
Work closely with the SENCO and other support staff to meet individual needs
Provide feedback on pupil progress and behaviour to teaching staff
Support pupils during transitions and break times

Ideal Year 1 Teaching Assistant:

Experience working with KS1 pupils in an educational setting
Strong behaviour management skills and ability to maintain a positive classroom environment
Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff
Resilient, patient and empathetic approach
Relevant qualifications or training in education or child development (desirable)
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
