Alternative Provision Teacher
Job description
A school in Cambrideshire is seeking to appoint a compassionate, resilient and adaptable Alternative Provision Teacher to work with students who require a personalised and nurturing approach to learning. This is a rewarding opportunity to help young people overcome barriers and achieve success — both in and out of the classroom. Beginning September 2025.
Duties as a Alternative Provision Teacher:
Planning and delivering a flexible, creative curriculum tailored to individual needs.
Building positive, trusting relationships with students who may present with SEMH needs or behavioural challenges.
Working closely with pastoral and inclusion teams to support emotional well-being and engagement.
Assessing progress, setting achievable goals, and celebrating success at every level.
Creating a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment.
Ideal Alternative Provision Teacher:
Hold QTS or be a qualified instructor with relevant experience.
Have experience working with students with SEMH, behavioural or additional learning needs.
Be patient, empathetic and committed to restorative practice as an Alternative Provision Teacher.
Be confident managing challenging behaviour with a trauma-informed approach.
Be flexible, proactive, and a strong team player.
