Job description

Caretaker – Full-time, temporary cover from as soon as possible, 10am to 6pm

We are seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to support a welcoming and inclusive school community. The school is committed to providing a safe, well-maintained environment where pupils can thrive. This is a full-time temporary cover role, with working hours from 10am to 6pm, starting as soon as possible.

Duties as Caretaker:

  • Ensure the school premises are clean, safe, and well-maintained
  • Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance tasks
  • Monitor heating, lighting, and alarm systems
  • Open and close the school premises, ensuring security at all times
  • Support with setting up rooms for school events and activities
  • Conduct regular checks of the building and grounds
  • Liaise with contractors and report any major maintenance issues

Ideal Caretaker:

  • Previous experience in a caretaking, site management, or facilities role
  • Practical skills in basic maintenance, DIY, and repairs
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
