Job description

​Step Teachers are looking for a Design and Technology Teacher specialising in Resistant Materials for a role beginning in April and continuing until the end of the academic year. As a long-term supply position, this role will involve planning and marking.

The school is located in Norwich and is recognised as “Good” by Ofsted, and is seeking a DT Teacher who will contribute towards their atmosphere of academic excellence and cultivation of integrity, respect, and tolerance in their students. Teachers are trusted to encourage students to take risks in their learning to build resilience and confidence, promoting a culture of dedicated, self-directed learning.

As the ideal Design and Technology Teacher for this role, you will:

  • Possess strong knowledge of the Resistant Materials curriculum across KS3 and KS4

  • Be able to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons

  • Upkeep a clean, considerate, and safe workshop classroom environment

  • Display a strong, mentoring personality toward students

  • Cultivate positive relationships with students, working to inspire good behaviour and a passion for learning

  • Cooperate with and support your colleagues and additional classroom staff

  • Be able to accurately assess and report on your students, and articulate solutions to their difficulties

  • Comply with and implement the school's policies, and take part in their supportive educational ethos

Requirements for this role:

  • QTS or equivalent

  • Recent mainstream school-based experience teaching Design and Technology

  • A relevant subject-related degree is desirable
