Job description

English Teacher – Full-time, maternity cover from January 2026 for 1 year

This is a fantastic opportunity for an English Teacher to join a school with a strong commitment to academic excellence and pupil well-being. Duties as English Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Teach A Level English if required
  • Prepare pupils for assessments and examinations
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress
  • Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support whole-school initiatives
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and school policies

Ideal English Teacher:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level
  • Ability to teach A Level English is an advantage
  • Strong subject knowledge and curriculum understanding
  • Committed to pupil progress and achievement
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills as an English Teacher
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team
