Job description

Our East London office is working closely with a primary school seeking a dedicated, experienced SEND Reception Teacher to lead a nurture group of around 9 pupils with autism and cerebral palsy. The ideal candidate will have experience as a SEND teacher within a mainstream or specialist setting. You will be working alongside a mainstream Reception Teacher to bring the classes together for aspects of learning to make it an inclusive environment for all. This position is available from November 2021.

Some of the skills and requirements of an alternative provision teacher will be:
  • A relevant teaching qualification such as a PGCE
  • Strong classroom management and the ability to engage with students who struggle in a mainstream setting
  • Able to learn from others with pre-existing rapport with the individual students
  • Willing to share good practice with others
The staff at this school understand the challenges of working in this environment and are supportive of both the learners, support staff, and teachers. Safeguarding is a main priority to ensure a secure place for all.

If this sounds like an opportunity for you, we would love to hear from you.

Candidates will be subject to a variety of checks including an enhanced DBS check, full references including your most recent employer, and eligibility to work in the UK. Step Teachers are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.  Step Teachers furloughed our teaching staff and continue to look after all of our staff and schools during these times.

Unlike other agencies, Step Teachers are more than happy to process your pay via PAYE – you will not be forced to go with an Umbrella Company.
