Job description

This school is seeking a motivated and passionate French Teacher to join a thriving Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) department. The successful candidate will have a strong command of the French language and a desire to foster students’ linguistic skills, cultural awareness, and confidence in communication. Beginning ASAP.

Duties as French Teacher:

  • Teach French across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 desirable)

  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to support language acquisition and fluency

  • Promote an appreciation of Francophone cultures through creative teaching and enrichment activities

  • Assess, monitor and report on student progress, identifying and addressing individual learning needs

  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work and teaching resources

  • Prepare students for internal assessments and external qualifications (e.g., GCSE and A-Level)

  • Organise or support language-related trips, exchanges, and events where appropriate

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation

  • Participate in department meetings, whole-school CPD, and parent consultations

  • Act as a form tutor and contribute to the wider pastoral life of the school

Ideal French Teacher:

 

  • Be a qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with a specialism in French

  • Have experience teaching French at secondary level, with a sound understanding of current MFL pedagogy

  • Be committed to raising achievement and promoting a love for language learning

  • Have strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage all learners as a French Teacher.

  • Be enthusiastic, proactive, and able to work well as part of a team
