Job description

History Teacher – Full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing role from January 2026

Duties as History Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging history lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Prepare students for assessments and examinations, including GCSE History
  • Promote historical enquiry, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Use a range of teaching strategies to support diverse learning needs
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing constructive feedback
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Contribute to the development of the history curriculum and resources
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support cross-curricular learning and school initiatives

Ideal History Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
  • Experience teaching history in a secondary school setting
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for history education
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills as a History Teacher
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider school community
