Job description

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a committed and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and skilled practitioner to take a leading role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as an HLTA:

 

  • Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities under the guidance of teaching staff

  • Cover classes during teacher absence, including delivering pre-planned lessons

  • Provide targeted support to individuals and groups of pupils, including those with additional needs

  • Support assessment and track pupil progress

  • Assist with classroom organisation, resource preparation, and behaviour management

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals

Ideal HLTA:

 

  • HLTA status or relevant HLTA qualification

  • Proven experience working in a primary or secondary school setting

  • Strong literacy, numeracy, and communication skills as an HLTA

  • Confidence in delivering lessons and leading learning independently

  • A flexible, organised, and professional approach

  • A sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection
