Job description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated High Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a  committed and enthusiastic team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, delivering interventions, and covering classes as needed. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a High Level Teaching Assistant:

 

  • Plan and deliver high-quality learning activities to small groups or whole classes, under the direction of teaching staff.

  • Provide classroom cover for teacher absence, PPA time, or intervention sessions.

  • Support individual pupils, including those with additional needs, to access the curriculum.

  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and assessment of lessons and pupil progress.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and support staff to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.

Ideal High Level Teaching Assistant:

 

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent, or substantial experience in a similar role.

  • Proven experience working across primary or secondary phases.

  • Strong understanding of the national curriculum and classroom practice.

  • Confident classroom presence with excellent behaviour management skills.

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills as a HLTA.

  • A commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and the wider life of the school.
