Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 6 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school team. This role is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in preparing pupils for their SATs and transition into secondary school. Beginning November 2025.

Duties as a Year 6 Teaching Assistant:

 

  • Support the Year 6 teacher in delivering engaging lessons.

  • Provide small-group and 1:1 support, especially in Maths, English, and SATs preparation.

  • Assist with classroom organisation, resources, and displays.

  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil participation.

  • Support children’s social and emotional development as they prepare for secondary school.

  • Help with assessment, feedback, and learning interventions where needed.

Ideal Year 6 Teaching Assistant:

 

  • Previous experience working with children (ideally in KS2 or Year 6).

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills as a Year 6 Teaching Assistant.

  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate and support learners.

  • Confidence in supporting upper KS2 curriculum content.

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
