Job description
An ambitious and creative secondary school is seeking a passionate and skilled Music Teacher to join its thriving Performing Arts department. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the musical journey of students and contribute to a rich programme of curriculum and extracurricular music. Beginning September 2025.
Duties as a Music Teacher:
Teach Music across Key Stages 3 and 4
Plan and deliver engaging lessons that develop musical knowledge, appreciation, and performance skills
Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations (e.g. GCSE Music)
Encourage and support student creativity in composition, performance, and ensemble work
Promote a love of music through classroom teaching and extra-curricular opportunities
Lead or support musical ensembles, choirs, or school productions
Organise and participate in concerts, performances, and trips where appropriate
Maintain a safe, inclusive and inspiring classroom environment
Contribute to curriculum development and resource creation
Ideal Music Teacher:
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or is working towards it
Has a degree in Music or a related field
Demonstrates excellent musicianship and subject knowledge
Is confident teaching practical and theoretical elements of music
Can inspire and motivate students across a range of musical abilities
Has strong communication, planning and classroom management skills as a Music Teacher.
Works well both independently and as part of a collaborative department
