Job description

This school is a nurturing and inclusive setting where children are encouraged to explore, play and grow. We are seeking a warm, enthusiastic, and proactive Nursery Teaching Assistant to join an Early Years team and help deliver a safe and inspiring learning environment for our youngest learners. Beginning ASAP.

Duties as a Nursery Teaching Assistant:

 

  • Support the Nursery Teacher and wider EYFS team in delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum

  • Help create a stimulating and well-organised indoor and outdoor learning environment

  • Assist with planning and leading age-appropriate activities to support learning and development

  • Work with individual children and small groups, promoting curiosity and engagement

  • Observe and record children’s progress, contributing to learning journals and assessments

  • Support children’s social, emotional and personal development, including care routines

  • Build positive, nurturing relationships with children, families and colleagues

  • Encourage independence and communication skills through play and daily routines

  • Ensure a high standard of safeguarding, hygiene, and health and safety at all times

  • Participate in team meetings, training and whole-setting events

Ideal Nursery Teaching Assistant:

 

  • Hold a relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification (e.g., CACHE, NVQ, T Level)

  • Have experience working with young children in a nursery or early years setting

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the EYFS and child development

  • Be caring, patient, and committed to providing high-quality early education

  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as a Nursery Teaching Assistant.

  • Be reliable, flexible, and able to work well as part of a supportive team

  • Have a strong commitment to safeguarding and child wellbeing
