Job description

Reception Teacher – Full-time, long-term temporary role until July 2026, starting February 2026

This school provides a warm, supportive, and well‑structured early years environment where children benefit from nurturing staff, clear routines, and teaching that builds strong foundations for learning. Leaders work collaboratively with staff to maintain high expectations, and pupils respond positively to engaging lessons that foster curiosity, confidence, and early academic development. Duties as Reception Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging EYFS lessons that support early literacy, numeracy, and play‑based learning
  • Create a nurturing classroom environment that promotes curiosity and independence
  • Observe and assess progress, recording evidence of learning
  • Adapt teaching to meet a range of developmental needs
  • Support early social and emotional development through structured routines
  • Collaborate with EYFS staff to deliver a cohesive learning experience
  • Maintain communication with colleagues and follow consistent teaching expectations
  • Uphold safeguarding standards and prioritise child welfare

Ideal Reception Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching in EYFS
  • Strong understanding of early years development and EYFS curriculum
  • Ability to create engaging, play‑based learning experiences
  • Strong organisational and classroom management skills
  • Patient, nurturing, and proactive approach to supporting young learners
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting positive child development
