Job description

Step Teachers are currently seeking an SEN/SEMH Teacher to work within a fantastic secondary school within the Bridgwater area. This role will begin as soon as possible.

The role of SEN teacher will be within a secondary setting working with children and young people who have special educational needs or disabilities.

The school offers a rich and stimulating education comprised of a knowledge-rich curriculum, diverse cultural and extracurricular opportunities, and a strong pastoral support system. All children are welcomed in our inclusive community, and all are challenged to be the best they can be.

Role:

  • Assist with classroom management and create a positive and safe classroom atmosphere

  • Encourage student participation and engagement in classroom activities

  • Help maintain a clean and organised learning environment

  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young children, especially in an educational setting, is an advantage

  • Qualifications in SEN Teaching

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children

  • Willingness to collaborate with teachers and support staff

  • A commitment to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
