Job description
This school is a specialist provision dedicated to supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We are seeking a resilient, compassionate and creative teacher who can build strong relationships and provide a consistent, nurturing approach to learning. Beginning September 2025.
Duties as a SEMH Teacher:
Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils with SEMH
Create a safe, predictable and structured classroom environment that supports emotional regulation
Develop and implement behaviour and learning support strategies in line with pupils' EHCPs
Foster positive relationships with pupils, built on trust, consistency, and respect
Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team including teaching assistants, therapists and external professionals
Monitor and assess pupil progress, using appropriate frameworks and recording systems
Communicate effectively with parents/carers and other stakeholders
Contribute to the wider life of the school including enrichment activities, therapy-based approaches, and team meetings
Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
Ideal SEMH Teacher:
Hold QTS or equivalent, with experience teaching pupils with SEMH or in alternative provision (AP), PRUs, or specialist settings
Be committed to trauma-informed practice and inclusive education
Have a flexible, empathetic and consistent approach to behaviour and engagement
Be confident in using a range of strategies to support emotional wellbeing and resilience
Demonstrate strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills as an SEMH Teacher.
