Job description

SEMH Teaching Assistant – Daily supply across Tameside and surrounding areas, starting as soon as possible

Duties as SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Support students with social, emotional and mental health needs in mainstream classrooms
  • Assist with personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies
  • Promote inclusion and encourage independence in learning
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to monitor progress and adapt support
  • Help manage behaviour and create a calm, safe learning environment
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and school policies

Ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience supporting students with SEMH needs in secondary schools
  • Understanding of a range of emotional and behavioural challenges
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills as an SEMH Teaching Assistant
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Patience, resilience and a proactive approach to learning support
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
