Job description
This school is seeking a caring, patient and motivated SEN 1:1 Support Assistant to provide tailored support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to help a child thrive both academically and emotionally in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Beginning May 2025.
Duties as a SEN 121 Support Assistant:
Work closely with a named pupil who has an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan)
Deliver personalised support, both in the classroom and during targeted interventions
Help the pupil access the curriculum and develop confidence, communication, and independence
Implement strategies as advised by the SENCO and external professionals (e.g. speech therapists, occupational therapists)
Monitor progress and contribute to reviews and support plans
Build a trusting and consistent relationship with the pupil
Ideal SEN 121 Support Assistant:
Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly in a 1:1 or small group setting
A calm, compassionate, and flexible approach
Ability to follow structured plans while responding to individual needs
Excellent communication and teamwork skills as a SEN 121 Support Assistant
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
Relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are desirable but not essential
