SEN 121 Support Assistant

This school is seeking a caring, patient and motivated SEN 1:1 Support Assistant to provide tailored support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to help a child thrive both academically and emotionally in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Beginning May 2025.

Duties as a SEN 121 Support Assistant:

• Work closely with a named pupil who has an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan)

• Deliver personalised support, both in the classroom and during targeted interventions

• Help the pupil access the curriculum and develop confidence, communication, and independence

• Implement strategies as advised by the SENCO and external professionals (e.g. speech therapists, occupational therapists)

• Monitor progress and contribute to reviews and support plans

• Build a trusting and consistent relationship with the pupil

Ideal SEN 121 Support Assistant:

• Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly in a 1:1 or small group setting

• A calm, compassionate, and flexible approach

• Ability to follow structured plans while responding to individual needs

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills as a SEN 121 Support Assistant

• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities

• Relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are desirable but not essential
