Step Teachers are hiring for a SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support – Salford

About the Role

We’re looking for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child 1:1 (Autism & ADHD) in a brilliant special school in Salford.

 

Start: ASAP in September 2025
Hours: Mon–Fri, 8:15am–3:15pm
Contract: Long-term, potential to go permanent
Pay: £90–£110/day DOE (Paid PAYE only, no umbrella companies!)
Equal Pay: Matched to perm staff after 13 weeks

New DBS Refund: applications refunded in full after 20 days of work

What You’ll Be Doing

  • 1:1 for pupil in Year 9 with Autism & ADHD
  • Adapting to a mix of needs – learning, emotional, sensory & communication
  • Using positive behaviour techniques
  • Helping create a fun, inclusive, and safe learning space
  • Working with class teachers, SENCO, families & external specialists
  • Reporting any concerns or incidents to safeguarding leads

 

The School

  • Caters for students aged 9 to 19 with Autism, ADHD, Sensory & other needs.
  • Small classes (max 10) 4 staff per room
  • Fully equipped with sensory rooms, hydrotherapy & soft play areas

What You’ll Need

  • CV with 10-year work history
  • Proof of Right to Work, ID & proof of address.
  • DBS on Update Service (or willing to get one)
  • Professional references covering the last 2 years
  • Overseas Police Check (if applicable)
  • Experience with children & SEN
  • Positivity, reliability, empathy & dedication
