Job description
SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary role starting as soon as possible
This is an exciting opportunity to join a school where pupils thrive in a safe and inclusive environment. Leaders are ambitious for all learners and prioritise safeguarding and well-being across the school.
Duties as SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with special educational needs
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
- Help create a calm and structured learning environment
- Work closely with the SENCO and other staff to implement individual education plans
- Monitor and report on pupil progress and behaviour
- Support the pupil during transitions and break times
Ideal SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND
- Strong understanding of behaviour management and inclusive practices
- Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff
- Resilient, patient and empathetic approach
- Relevant qualifications or training in education or child development (desirable)
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
