SEND Teaching Assistant

A welcoming primary/secondary school in Hertford is seeking a caring and committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible.

Duties as a SEND Teaching Assistant:

• Provide 1:1 or small-group support for pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social–emotional challenges.

• Assist the class teacher in planning and adapting lessons to meet individual learning plans (EHCPs).

• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment and encourage independence.

• Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to teachers, parents/carers, and the SENDCo.

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:

• Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting (SEND experience is desirable but not essential).

• Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills as a SEND Teaching Assistant.

• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies.

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.
