Job description

Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term supply from April 2026 through to July 2026

This long-term opportunity is ideal for a Teaching Assistant who wants to make a meaningful impact within a calm, friendly, and supportive school environment. Pupils benefit from carefully planned learning tailored to their individual needs, strong communication-focused provision, and consistent behaviour support. Staff collaborate effectively, receive regular training, and work within a well-led setting where safeguarding and pupil development are prioritised.

Duties as Teaching Assistant:

  • Support pupils with ASD in Year 7, adapting activities to meet individual communication and learning needs.
  • Assist in delivering planned learning sequences and help pupils apply skills in real-life contexts.
  • Use speech, signing and/or symbols to promote communication development.
  • Contribute to creating a calm, safe, and positive learning environment.
  • Help pupils maintain focus through short, structured learning activities.
  • Support behaviour management using consistent, positive approaches.
  • Work with the class teacher to monitor progress and assist pupils in catching up when needed.

Ideal Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly ASD, is desirable but not essential.
  • Good communication skills and willingness to use a range of communication methods.
  • A patient, calm, and consistent approach to behaviour.
  • Ability to follow structured plans and adapt support to suit individual needs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil well-being.
  • A positive attitude and desire to contribute to a supportive team.
