Year 1 Teacher – Full-time, long-term maternity cover from June 2026 until the end of the academic year

Duties as Year 1 Teacher:

  • Teach a Year 1 class full time with no planning or marking required
  • Deliver high‑quality daily lessons using provided planning frameworks
  • Maintain consistent classroom routines and promote positive behaviour
  • Support pupils’ early literacy, numeracy, phonics, and wider curriculum development
  • Adapt lesson delivery to meet varied learning needs, including SEND
  • Attend parents’ evenings and contribute to required school responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with KS1 colleagues to ensure consistency across the phase
  • Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise pupil welfare

Ideal Year 1 Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with strong KS1 teaching experience
  • Confident delivering phonics, early reading, and foundational literacy and numeracy
  • Effective classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Strong communication and organisational abilities
  • Able to motivate and support pupils of differing abilities
  • Reflective, proactive, and committed to high‑quality teaching
  • Dedicated to safeguarding and supporting pupil well‑being
