We are seeking a creative, nurturing and enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher to join a dedicated team at a great school. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in guiding pupils through their transition from the Early Years into Key Stage 1, helping to lay strong foundations for future learning. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a Year 1 Teacher:

 

  • Teach a Year 1 class, delivering a broad and balanced curriculum

  • Build on children’s EYFS learning while developing their independence and readiness for more formal learning

  • Create a happy, engaging and inclusive classroom environment

  • Use a range of strategies to support phonics, early writing and number skills

  • Work closely with teaching assistants, the KS1 team and parents/carers

  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, using this to inform planning and provision

  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and uphold our positive behaviour ethos

Ideal Year 1 Teacher:

 

  • Holds QTS and is committed to delivering high-quality teaching and learning

  • Has strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum, especially early phonics and writing

  • Is nurturing, positive and passionate about child development

  • Understands how to support young learners with a range of needs and abilities as a Year 1 Teacher.

  • Works well as part of a team and values open communication with colleagues and families

  • (Desirable) Brings experience of working in Year 1 or EYFS/KS1
