Job description

 

Step Teachers are seeking an Early Years SEND Class Teacher to teach a smaller class of children with complex needs, 4 days per week from April 2024. The students already have a great, experienced support team. The school are simply looking for a Class Teacher with experience working with children with complex needs who is kind-hearted and passionate. They are unable to accept an ECT for the role due to the needs of the children. 

Key responsibilities of a SEND Class Teacher:

  • Experience working with children with complex needs
  • Develop and implement Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPS) for students with special educational needs
  • Provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment tailored to the sensory and behavioural needs of students
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to meet the diverse learning styles and abilities of the class
  • Collaborate with support staff, therapists, and parents to ensure the holistic development of each student
  • Maintain a positive and safe classroom atmosphere, promoting emotional and social growth
  • Monitor and report on student progress, adapting teaching strategies as necessary

Requirements of an SEND Class Teacher:

  • Hold QTS
  • Proven experience working with children with complex needs
  • Extensive knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework
  • Strong knowledge of special education practices, strategies, and resources
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with support staff and parents
  • Passion and commitment to making a difference in the lives of special needs students
