Job description

Step Teachers are looking for an English Teacher to join a secondary school based in Mitcham. This role will be commencing in the Summer term. This is a long-term role

This is an “Outstanding” Ofsted-rated school where leaders are ambitious for all. They have very high expectations of pupils in every
subject. All pupils learn the rich curriculum exceptionally well. This includes pupilswith special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), and pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. Over half of the pupils opt to remain in the school sixth form, where they can study a range of academic and vocational subjects.

Role:

  • Strong knowledge of the KS3 and KS4 English Language and English Literature curriculum

  • Organised and professional maintenance of the classroom and the associated resources

  • Work effectively with other members of staff, both within the classroom and throughout the school

  • Ability to assess students, monitor their progress, and provide constructive feedback to help them progress

  • Able to plan and deliver engaging and comprehensive lessons

  • Compliance with the schools’ policies and the reliable implementation of these

Requirements:

  • Hold QTS or an equivalent qualification

  • Have recent mainstream school-based experience teaching English at the secondary school level.

  • Have a good level of classroom and behaviour management

  • A relevant English-related degree is desirable
