Job description
Special Needs Specialists with PRU Experience – Full-time or Part-time, Supply Roles, Starting ASAP
These flexible opportunities are ideal for experienced Special Needs specialists who have worked in Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and want to make a positive impact across primary school settings in Feltham and the surrounding areas. You will provide tailored support to pupils with complex needs, helping them engage with learning and develop essential social and emotional skills.
Duties as Special Needs Specialist:
- Deliver one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND and behavioural needs
- Implement personalised strategies to promote engagement and positive behaviour
- Assist teachers in adapting lessons and resources to meet individual needs
- Support pupils’ emotional well-being and resilience in challenging situations
- Liaise with SENCOs, teachers, and external professionals to ensure consistent provision
- Maintain accurate records and adhere to safeguarding policies
Ideal Special Needs Specialist:
- Previous experience working in PRUs or alternative provision settings
- Strong understanding of strategies for supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible, resilient, and committed to inclusive education
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
