Head of Geography
Job description
We are seeking an inspiring and dynamic Head of Geography to lead our Geography department with vision, enthusiasm, and a commitment to excellence. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher or aspiring middle leader to take the next step in their career and shape the delivery of geography across the school. Beginning September 2025.
Duties as Head of Geography:
Lead and manage the Geography department, including curriculum planning, assessment, and staff development.
Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 (where applicable).
Monitor and track student progress, ensuring high standards of achievement and effective intervention strategies.
Promote a love of geography through enrichment opportunities, trips, and extra-curricular activities.
Contribute to whole-school initiatives and play an active role in the wider school community.
Ideal Head of Geography:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong academic background in Geography.
Experience teaching Geography across a range of key stages, with excellent subject knowledge.
Proven ability to inspire, lead, and motivate both students and staff.
Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills as Head of Geography.
A commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, and high expectations of all learners.
