Job description
Intervention Teaching Assistant – Full-time, temporary to permanent position starting as soon as possible
We are seeking a committed Intervention Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary SEMH school environment. The school promotes high standards of teaching and learning, with a strong emphasis on pupil wellbeing and personal development. Staff are well-supported by leadership, and students benefit from a broad curriculum and positive learning environment. Duties as Intervention Teaching Assistant:
- Provide targeted academic and emotional support to pupils with SEMH needs
- Deliver structured intervention sessions in maths, English, or other core subjects
- Work closely with teaching staff and SENCOs to implement individual learning plans
- Support pupils in managing behaviour and developing self-regulation strategies
- Assist with classroom activities and transitions throughout the school day
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and engagement
- Must be able to drive to support off-site activities and pupil transport if required
Ideal Intervention Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working with secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs
- Strong understanding of intervention strategies and behaviour support
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Confident managing challenging behaviour with empathy and consistency
- Must hold a valid driving licence and be willing to travel as part of the role
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Willingness to undertake relevant training and development
