Job description

We are looking for a caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with special educational needs.

You will work closely with teaching staff to provide individual and small group support, helping pupils access learning and develop their confidence and independence. You will play a vital role in creating an inclusive and positive learning environment for all students. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a SEN Teaching Assistant:

 

  • Support students with a range of special educational needs, including learning, emotional, social or physical needs.

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities.

  • Work one-to-one or with small groups to help students reach their goals.

  • Promote students’ social and emotional well-being.

  • Help manage behaviour positively in line with school policies.

  • Provide regular feedback to teachers and SENCO about student progress.

Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:

 

  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEND (desirable).

  • Be patient, empathetic and adaptable.

  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills as a SEN Teaching Assistant.

  • Be committed to helping every child achieve their potential.

  • Be reliable and willing to work flexibly to meet students’ needs.
