SEN Teaching Assistant

Duties as a SEN Teaching Assistant:

• Assist in planning and delivering tailored learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher or SENCO.

• Support pupils with personal care, emotional regulation and communication where required.

• Foster positive relationships with pupils, helping them develop social skills and resilience.

• Monitor and record student progress, sharing observations with teaching staff and parents.

• Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.

• Contribute to school-wide initiatives, staff meetings and training sessions.

Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:

• Previous experience working with children in a school or SEN setting is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided.

• A patient, compassionate and adaptable approach to working with children of different abilities and needs.

• Good communication and teamwork skills as a SEN Teaching Assistant.

• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
