SEND Teaching Assistant

We are looking for a dedicated and nurturing SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with pupils who have a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), supporting their learning and development both in and outside the classroom. Beginning ASAP.

Duties as a SEND Teaching Assistant:

• Supporting pupils with SEND on a 1:1 basis or in small groups

• Assisting the class teacher with planning and adapting learning resources

• Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills

• Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting emotional regulation

• Working closely with the SENCO and wider staff team to deliver personalised support plans

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:

• Have experience supporting children with SEND (e.g. autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, speech and language, or physical needs)

• Be patient, empathetic and flexible in their approach

• Hold a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – desirable but not essential

• Be able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and staff as SEND Teaching Assistant.

• Have a genuine passion for helping all children access education and thrive
