Job description

We are seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant for a long-term temporary ongoing position, starting as soon as possible.

Duties as a SEND Teaching Assistant:

 

  • Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a Year 4 student with ADHD

  • Use effective ADHD support strategies to help maintain focus, engagement, and positive behaviour

  • Assist with emotional regulation and the development of coping mechanisms

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt lessons and materials to meet the student’s needs

  • Encourage independence, confidence, and self-esteem in learning activities

  • Contribute to creating a calm and structured classroom environment

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:

 

  • Proven experience working with children with ADHD or other SEND needs

  • Ability to implement and adapt methods that support children with ADHD effectively

  • Patient, consistent, and empathetic approach

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff as a SEND Teaching Assistant.
