SEND Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary starting ASAP with potential to go permanent

This is an excellent opportunity for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a secondary setting that provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment for pupils with complex needs. The school is committed to ensuring that every child receives tailored support to help them thrive academically and socially. Staff work collaboratively to create a nurturing atmosphere where pupils feel valued and encouraged.

Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with complex SEND needs
Assist teachers in implementing personalised learning plans
Adapt resources and activities to meet individual needs
Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting to the class teacher and SENCO
Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment
Work flexibly across different year groups and adapt to varying needs
Contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing practices across the school

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:

Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school setting is essential
Strong understanding of strategies to support pupils with complex needs
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing requirements
Committed to promoting inclusion and safeguarding children
Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 in supporting teaching and learning are desirable
