SEND Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing role starting March 2026

Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide whole‑group SEND support across a range of classes and age groups
  • Assist pupils with Autism and learning difficulties with tailored strategies
  • Support learning activities through modelling, guided work, and encouragement
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain consistent classroom routines
  • Help pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction
  • Prepare and organise resources for daily activities
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and wider SEND staff
  • Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise pupil welfare

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience supporting children with Autism and learning difficulties
  • Confident supporting mixed age groups across primary and secondary phases
  • Calm, patient, and adaptable when responding to complex needs
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Able to follow guidance while also using initiative
