Job description
SEND Teaching Assistant – Full-time, day-to-day supply from as soon as possible
These flexible opportunities are ideal for SEND Teaching Assistants who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings in Plymouth and the surrounding areas. Candidates must have proven SEND experience, hold a valid driving licence, and be available to work five days a week.
Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
- Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and tailored learning strategies
- Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and developing independence
- Help manage behaviour using positive reinforcement techniques
- Collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to monitor pupil progress
- Assist with personal care and mobility needs where required
- Promote inclusion and encourage social and emotional development
Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Proven experience supporting children with SEND in an educational setting
- Knowledge of a range of SEND needs, including autism, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting pupils
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt to different school environments and pupil needs
- Must hold a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle
- Must be available to work five days per week
- Relevant qualifications in education or child development are desirable
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
