Job description

This school is seeking a creative, dedicated, and nurturing Year 1 Teacher to join a friendly and supportive staff team. This is a key stage in every child’s learning journey, as they transition from the Early Years into more structured learning — and your role will be vital in ensuring this is both smooth and inspiring. Beginning September 2025.

We are looking for a passionate teacher who can provide a warm, inclusive environment while delivering high-quality lessons that spark curiosity, develop key skills, and support emotional wellbeing.

Duties as a Year 1 Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the KS1 National Curriculum.

  • Support pupils in building on their EYFS foundations, with a strong focus on phonics, early maths and social development.

  • Use assessment to inform planning and track pupil progress effectively.

  • Create a positive and stimulating classroom environment.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and colleagues to meet the needs of all learners.

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers to support children’s learning and development.

Ideal Year 1 Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • A thorough understanding of the Year 1 curriculum and child development.

  • A nurturing and inclusive approach to teaching.

  • Strong behaviour management and classroom organisation skills as a Year 1 Teacher.

  • Experience teaching in KS1, especially Year 1.
