Design Technology Teacher
Job description
We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Design Technology (DT) Teacher to join secondary schools in the Ipswich area. The successful candidate will inspire students across Key Stage 3 and 4, encouraging innovation, problem-solving and practical skills in areas such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, Textiles or Food Technology (depending on specialism). Starting ASAP.
Duties as Design Technology Teacher:
Plan, prepare and deliver engaging DT lessons that meet the national curriculum and exam board requirements.
Promote hands-on learning through practical projects and workshops, ensuring safe and effective use of specialist equipment.
Differentiate lessons to support students of varying abilities and learning styles.
Assess and track student progress, providing feedback to drive improvement and achievement.
Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum development and extracurricular activities such as design clubs or competitions.
Maintain high standards of health & safety in all practical sessions.
Ideal Design Technology Teacher:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent.
Strong subject knowledge in Design Technology and experience with specialist equipment.
Excellent classroom management and organisational skills as a Design Technology Teacher.
Ability to inspire creativity and critical thinking in students.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
