English Teacher
Job description
We are seeking a passionate and committed English Teacher to join our vibrant and successful English department at a successful school. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to students' learning and progress, nurturing confident communicators and critical thinkers. Starting September 2025.
Duties as English Teacher:
Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
Inspiring students to enjoy reading, writing, speaking and listening, while meeting curriculum objectives
Assessing and monitoring student progress through regular feedback, marking and reporting
Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports the achievement of all learners
Contributing to the development of schemes of work, curriculum enrichment and departmental resources
Supporting literacy development across the school
Participating in parent evenings, school events and extra-curricular opportunities (e.g., writing clubs, theatre visits)
Working collaboratively with colleagues to raise standards and share best practice
Upholding school policies on behaviour, safeguarding and equal opportunities
Ideal English Teacher:
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)
Has a strong academic background in English Language and/or Literature
Demonstrates excellent subject knowledge and an enthusiasm for literature and language
Is confident teaching a range of texts and genres
Has strong classroom management and communication skills as the English Teacher.
Is committed to high standards, student progress and inclusive teaching
Is reflective, collaborative and keen to develop professionally
