Job description

English Teacher – Full-time, temp to perm from January 2026

This is an exciting opportunity for an English Teacher to join a school that provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Duties as English Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons across Key Stages, ensuring progress and engagement
  • Teach some Humanities lessons as part of the timetable
  • Prepare and assess pupils for examinations and provide constructive feedback
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of pupils with SEMH requirements
  • Create a positive and stimulating classroom environment that promotes a love of learning
  • Contribute to departmental planning and whole-school initiatives
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and implement effective classroom management strategies

Ideal English Teacher:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Strong subject knowledge in English and some Humanities
  • Previous experience teaching in secondary settings
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
