Job description

English Teacher – Part-time, long-term temporary role on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting as soon as possible until July 2026

Duties as English Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across relevant year groups
  • Teach high‑quality sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays
  • Support pupils in developing strong reading, writing, and analytical skills
  • Provide clear feedback on pupil progress through ongoing assessment
  • Maintain positive behaviour and consistent routines
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet varied learning needs
  • Contribute to departmental planning and collaborative work
  • Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise pupil welfare

Ideal English Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching English
  • Strong subject knowledge across KS3 and KS4
  • Effective classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate pupils of mixed abilities
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Reflective, proactive, and committed to supporting pupil progress
  • Dedicated to safeguarding and promoting pupil well‑being
