Are you passionate about supporting students in their journey beyond secondary school? We are looking to appoint a supportive and motivated Further Education Teaching Assistant to work with learners in a post-16 environment. This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in helping young adults thrive academically, personally, and professionally within a dynamic and inclusive setting. Beginning June 2025.
Duties as a Further Education Teaching Assistant:
- Support students in their studies, helping them to access learning and achieve their goals
- Work one-to-one or with small groups, including learners with additional needs such as SEND, EAL, or those requiring extra academic support
- Assist lecturers in delivering engaging and differentiated sessions
- Provide constructive feedback to students and help monitor their progress
- Foster independent learning and encourage students to develop critical thinking skills
- Support the preparation and organisation of study materials and resources
- Assist with career development activities, such as employability skills and vocational learning
- Promote inclusion and encourage all learners to fully engage in their education
- Liaise with lecturers, student support teams, and families when necessary
- Uphold safeguarding procedures and attend relevant training
Ideal Further Education Teaching Assistant:
- Has experience working with post-16 students or within a college/sixth-form setting (desirable but not essential)
- Is caring, patient, and committed to supporting young adults
- Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills as a Further Education Teaching Assistant
- Can work well as part of a team and take initiative when needed
- Has good literacy and numeracy skills (Level 2 or equivalent)
- Is flexible, reliable, and eager to learn
- Understands safeguarding and student welfare responsibilities
