Job description

We are looking for a supportive and proactive Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school team.
You will work closely with teachers to support learning across a range of subjects and help students achieve their full potential. This role is suitable for individuals experienced in secondary school settings or those looking to develop their career in education support. Beginning ASAP.

Duties as a Secondary Teaching Assistant:

  • Support teaching staff in delivering lessons and monitoring student progress.

  • Work with individual pupils or small groups to provide additional learning support.

  • Assist students with special educational needs (SEND) or English as an Additional Language (EAL) where required.

  • Help maintain classroom organisation and a positive learning environment.

  • Support school initiatives, events, and extracurricular activities.

  • Record and report on student progress, behaviour, and achievement as requested by teachers.

Ideal Secondary Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with secondary school students (teaching assistant experience desirable but not essential).

  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills as a Secondary Teaching Assistant.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

  • Organised, proactive, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
