Secondary Teaching Assistant – Team Teach trained – Secondary SEN – Oldham – Step Teachers

Start: ASAP (Sept 2025) Pay: £95/day (PAYE)
Hours: Full-time Mon–Fri 8:30am–3:30pm
Contract: Temp-to-Perm for the right person

We’re working with a welcoming special needs school in Oldham that supports young people aged 11–16 with Autism and Complex Needs. This role is perfect for someone patient, resilient, and committed to providing consistent support that helps students develop independence, communication, and confidence. The school places a strong emphasis on structure, positive relationships, safety, and inclusion—ensuring every learner has the opportunity to flourish.

As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you’ll work with students both 1:1 and in small groups, supporting their learning, social skills, and emotional development. With your Team Teach training, you’ll use de-escalation techniques and tailored support strategies to help young people regulate behaviours, manage challenges, and engage positively with their education. You’ll collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and specialist staff in a team that values wellbeing, communication, and progress for every learner.

What you’ll need:

  • At least 3 months’ experience supporting young people with Autism, SEMH, or additional needs
  • Secondary experience and Team Teach training
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach—even under pressure
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with complex needs
