Job description
We are looking for two dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants to join an Alternative Provision School on a long-term, temporary, ongoing basis, starting as soon as possible.
Learners and apprentices thrive in a caring, respectful environment with strong support from dedicated staff. Effective pastoral care and tailored teaching help them stay on track and succeed. Those with additional needs benefit from a life-skills-focused curriculum, and all learners develop confidence, maturity, and social skills. Safeguarding is robust, and learners feel safe and supported.
Duties of the SEMH Teaching Assistants:
Support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in both 1:1 and small group settings.
Help to create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning plans.
Encourage positive behaviour and engagement through patience and consistency.
Build strong relationships with students, promoting confidence and emotional well-being.
Ideal SEMH Teaching Assistants:
Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs or within an alternative provision setting.
Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, resilient approach.
A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs as the SEMH Teaching Assistants.
Ability to work well within a team and follow individual learning plans.
