Job description
We are seeking a patient, enthusiastic Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming school community on a long-term temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils with a variety of additional needs while gaining valuable classroom experience. Starting November 2025.
Duties as a SEND Learning Support Assistant:
Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and develop independence.
Assist teachers in adapting lesson materials and activities to meet individual learning plans or Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Promote a positive, inclusive environment that nurtures confidence and social skills.
Monitor and record pupil progress, sharing feedback with staff and parents/carers.
Support with personal care needs where appropriate and ensure safeguarding policies are followed.
Ideal SEND Learning Support Assistant:
Relevant experience supporting children or young people with SEND (school setting preferred).
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant/Supporting Teaching & Learning qualification, or equivalent, desirable as SEND Learning Assistant.
Excellent communication skills, patience and a caring approach.
Understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to the welfare of all pupils.
