SEN Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a patient, enthusiastic Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming school community on a long-term temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils with a variety of additional needs while gaining valuable classroom experience. Starting November 2025.

Duties as a SEND Learning Support Assistant:

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and develop independence.

• Assist teachers in adapting lesson materials and activities to meet individual learning plans or Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

• Promote a positive, inclusive environment that nurtures confidence and social skills.

• Monitor and record pupil progress, sharing feedback with staff and parents/carers.

• Support with personal care needs where appropriate and ensure safeguarding policies are followed.

Ideal SEND Learning Support Assistant:

• Relevant experience supporting children or young people with SEND (school setting preferred).

• Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant/Supporting Teaching & Learning qualification, or equivalent, desirable as SEND Learning Assistant.

• Excellent communication skills, patience and a caring approach.

• Understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to the welfare of all pupils.
