Job description

We are seeking a committed Full-Time SEND Teaching Assistant for a long-term temporary role starting in November 2025, with the potential to become permanent.

SEND Teaching Assistant – Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 support to secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs
  • Deliver targeted phonics-based reading interventions
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of personalised learning strategies
  • Support pupils in managing behaviour and developing emotional regulation
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and SENCO to monitor progress and adapt support
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
  • Contribute to the wider school community and uphold safeguarding responsibilities
SEND Teaching Assistant – Ideal Candidate
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant Qualification.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
  • Familiarity with phonics-based reading programmes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills as a SEND Teaching Assistant.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff
  • Committed to promoting pupil wellbeing and academic progress
  • Understanding of safeguarding practices and procedures
  • Willingness to work flexibly and adapt to individual pupil needs
