SEND Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing starting January 2026 with potential to go permanent

This is an excellent opportunity for a SEND Teaching Assistant to work on a day-to-day basis in a flexible role that offers variety and the chance to make a positive impact across different school settings. Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND
  • Assist teachers in implementing personalised learning plans
  • Adapt resources and activities to meet individual needs
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting to the class teacher and SENCO
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Work flexibly across different year groups and adapt to varying needs
  • Contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing practices across the school

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school setting is essential
  • Strong understanding of strategies to support pupils with complex needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing requirements
  • Committed to promoting inclusion and safeguarding children
  • Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 in supporting teaching and learning are desirable
