Job description

We are seeking a Year 5/6 Teacher to cover maternity leave from 1 January 2026 until August 2026 on a 0.6 contract.

Duties as a Year5/6 Teacher:

 

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners in Year 5/6.

  • Assess, record, and report on pupils’ progress in line with school and national expectations.

  • Differentiate teaching to support children with varying abilities and learning styles.

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes high standards of behaviour and achievement.

  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of enrichment activities, school events, and assemblies.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and parents to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.

  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and school development initiatives as required.

Ideal Year 5/6 Teacher:

 

  • Have proven experience teaching across upper Key Stage 2 (Year 5 and/or Year 6).

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the KS2 curriculum and assessment processes as a Year 5/6 Teacher.

  • Be reflective, organised, and committed to continuous improvement.

  • Show enthusiasm, creativity, and resilience in their approach to teaching and learning.
